Describe your job:
Just as every orchestra needs a conductor, every creative team needs a creative director to assure that everyone is on the same page, performing with a common goal and working together to achieve perfect harmony, consistency and coherence. That’s my job—to make sure that, as a team of diverse creatives, we are producing the finest communications in advertising, print, web and video for Biola University, assuring that Biola’s brand is strong and growing in recognition.
Five most influential books, movies or songs:
- Pilgrims Progress (book)
- Mere Christianity (book)
- Screwtape Letters (book)
- Star Wars (movie)
- Princess Bride (movie)
What inspires me?
Above all things, God’s Word has always been the source of the greatest inspiration for me. A few verses that have given me inspiration and encouragement throughout my life are: Philipians 4:13, Ephesians 3:21, Isaiah 41:10.
The best thing about my job is:
First, I work with an amazing team of people in IMC. These are individuals who are passionate about what they do, they inspire creativity and they care about furthering the mission of Biola University. Second, I love Biola. I get to come to work each day knowing that I play a part in giving committed Christians a university experience where they can grow in their intellect as well as their knowledge and love for the Lord. That’s truly fulfilling.
If I could be any place in the world right now, where would it be?
Four Seasons Hotel, Maui, Hawaii with my beautiful wife Elizabeth, sippin’ a pina colada on the beach—reminiscent of our honeymoon.
Most influential person in your life and why?
Both my mom and dad have been the most influential people in my life. They have both lived their faith with tremendous perseverance and sincerity and their love for the Lord has greatly impacted me in my life. The marvelous example they have been as a mother and father, husband and wife is remarkable and has most certainly helped shape me into who I am today.
If I could pick any actor to play me in the movie of my life, who would it be?
Jack Black. A haircut may be needed, but other than that, dead on.
“Marketing is really just a conversation. The degree to which you are successful in any marketing endeavor is dependent upon your willingness to actively listen to your audience and then respond to their needs and interests with something they deem worth listening to.” — Brian Miller
