
Rosemarie Avila
Mrs. Avila has served on the board since November 1992 and is a part of the Student Development Committee. She is president and founder of the Orange County Youth Commission, an inner city non-profit organization and a three-term elected governing board member of the Santa Ana Unified School District. Rosie and her husband, Jim, live in Santa Ana.
William H. Bauer
Mr. Bauer served on the board from 1987 until May 1999 and was re-elected as a trustee in May 2002. He currently serves on the Trustee Affairs and Academic Affairs Committees. Recently, he completed a second term of service with English Language Institute/China as their Executive Vice President/COO preceded, by five years as the Executive Director of Haven Ministries. He serves as the Chief Operating Officer of HomeWord. Bill and his wife, Arlene, live in Tustin.
William G. Billard
Mr. Billard was elected to the board in May 1986, served as chair for eight years, and is currently a member of the Trustee Affairs and Student Development Committees. He is retired after serving many years as CEO of W.T. Billard, Inc., a material-handling firm located in Santa Fe Springs. Bill and his wife, Jo, live in Whittier.
Dean Bursch
Mr. Bursch was elected to the board in December, 2004 and serves on the Advancement Committee. Dean is president of Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Inc, a wholesale distributor of electrical products. He and his wife, Susan, live in Gunnison, Colorado.
Michael Chang
Mr. Chang was elected to the board in May 2005 and serves on the Advancement Committee. At fifteen, Michael began playing professional tennis, setting numerous “youngest player records” and becoming the youngest French Open/Grand Slam Champion ever. He is president of the Chang Family Foundation, a non-profit foundation that looks to spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through local and international events. Michael lives in Mission Viejo with his wife, Amber.
G. Bradley Cole
Mr. Cole was elected to the board February 2002 and serves on the Finance and Audit Committee. He is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Genomic Health, Inc., a molecular diagnostics product company, located in Redwood City, California. Brad and his wife, Christy (Montgomery, also an alum), are the parents of two daughters, Amy and Megan, both Biola graduates. The Coles live in Los Altos Hills.
Dwight Hanger
Mr. Hanger was elected to the board in May 1985 and presently serves on the Trustee Affairs and Finance and Audit Committees. He is a retired partner from Ernst and Young after 33 years in management consulting. Dwight and his wife, Vicki, live in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Promod Haque
Dr. Haque was elected to the board in July 2007 and serves on the Advancement Committee. He is Managing Partner of Norwest Venture Partners in Palo Alto. He and his wife, Dorcas, live in Saratoga, California.
Carol Stewart Hawkins
Ms. Hawkins was elected to the board in November 2005 and serves on the Facilities and Services Committee. Carol’s home is in Upland where she serves on the staff of Life Bible Fellowship Church.
Stan Jantz (Vice Chair)
Mr. Jantz joined the board in July 1999 and is chair of the Trustee Affairs Committee as well as a member of the Academic Affairs Committee. Stan is a writer and marketing consultant and also the co-founder and managing partner of Conversant Media Group, a new media publishing company. Stan and his wife, Karin, met at Biola and have two children, both graduates of Biola. The Jantzs live in Huntington Beach.
Ray Johnson
Mr. Johnson was elected to the board in August 2004 and is serving on the Finance and Audit Committee. He has worked as a financial consultant at Merill Lynch for more than 25 years. Ray and his wife, Betsy, live in Fullerton.
David Karnes
Mr. Karnes was elected to the board in November 1998, and serves on the Academic Affairs Committee. He retired after 45 years in the Aerospace industry and has been an independent Aerospace consultant for the past five years. Dave and his wife, Shirley, live in Irvine.
Allan G. Kavalich
Dr. Kavalich was elected to the board in November 1999 and is a member of the Advancement Committee. Dr. Kavalich is a physician (Nephrology) and Medical Director of the San Bernardino Valley Dialysis Center. Allan and his wife, Gig, live in Redlands, California.
Hannah Fair Lee
Mrs. Lee has served on the board since May 1998 and is chair of the Student Development Committee. Hannah is a homemaker and mother of two children as well as being involved in private management of commercial and residential properties. Hannah and her husband, Chuck, live in Newport Coast.
Edgar R. Lehman
Mr. Lehman has been a member of the board of Trustees since 1965, serving on virtually all the committees as well as board chair for 14 years. Presently, he serves on the Student Development Committee. He was Vice President, Human Resources for Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company in Newport Beach, California, until his retirement in 1996. Ed and his wife, Sonja, live in Villa Park.
Carol J. Lindskog
Mrs. Lindskog was elected to the board in October 1984 and is currently a member of the Facilities and Services Committee. Now retired, Carol has worked in several fields of nursing including more than ten years as Director of Nursing Services at Atherton Baptist Homes and eight years as a nursing administration consultant. She and her husband, Ray, live in Whittier.
Wayne B. Lowell
Mr. Lowell was elected to the board in November 2000 and is chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. Wayne is the former executive vice president, chief financial and chief administrative officer of PacifiCare Health Systems and is now a consultant providing strategic and operating advice to boards of directors, CEOs and CFOs of venture capital and publicly owned companies. He and his wife, Nan, live in Irvine.
Al Mijares
Dr. Al Mijares was elected to the board in November 2007 and is a member of the Academic Affairs Committee. Dr. Mijares served as superintendent of the Santa Ana Unified School District for 11 years and is now Vice President of the Western Regional Office of the College Board providing leadership with a focus on regional and state education initiatives. He and his wife, Jackie, live in Tustin.
David J. Mitchell
Dr. Mitchell was elected to the board in November 1999 and is presently chair of the Academic Affairs Committee and member of the Trustee Affairs Committee. Dr. Mitchell is senior pastor of Calvary Church, Santa Ana as well as chaplain with the Santa Ana Police Department. He and his wife, Joy, live in Tustin and have two daughters who graduated from Biola.
Damoi Park
Rev. Park was elected to the board in November 2004 and assigned to the Student Development Committee. He is on the pastoral staff of the Onnuri Church in Seoul, Korea where he and his wife, Song Won, have their home. They are the parents of two sons. Pastor Park has a heart for international students and would like to broaden Talbot and Biola’s outreach to the world.
Ronald Dean Rallis, Sr.
Dr. Rallis was elected to the board in March 1986 and is presently serving on the Facilities Committee. He has a private law practice as well as serving on the judicial bench as a Temporary Judge for the Los Angeles and Orange County courts. In addition, Dr. Rallis currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the 63rd Regional Readiness Command, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, United States Army. He and his wife, Sheri, live in Fullerton.
Gorden Romberger
Mr. Romberger has served on the board since May 1986 and on the Finance and Audit Committee from the time of his election. He is associated with Romberger, Wilson & Beeson, Inc., a certified public accounting firm in Glendale, California. He and his wife, Joann, make their home in La Crescenta.
Jerry Rueb
Dr. Jerry Rueb was elected to the board in November 2000 and chairs the Facilities and Services Committee. He currently ministers as Lead Pastor of Cornerstone Church in Long Beach. Jerry and his wife, Sue, live in Huntington Beach.
John Siefker (Chair)
Mr. Siefker was elected to the board in August 1994 and presently serves as chair. Retired after many years with a health care organization he now contributes his time, talent and resources as an informal consultant to developing Christian ministries. John and his wife, Lynn, make their home in Newport Coast.
Kennith O. Thompson
Dr. Thompson was elected to the board in July 1992 and serves on the Student Development Committee. He has a surgical practice in Whittier, where he and his wife, Sandra, reside.
Robert G. Thompson
Mr. Thompson has served on the board since December 1991 and is presently chair of the Advancement Committee. He was president and CEO of Thompson Lacquer Company before retiring and becoming a business consultant. Bob and his wife, Audrey, live in Whittier.
