- Use Antivirus software Antivirus software is crucial nowadays. We license Symantec AntiVirus software for students (see details, above) and employees. Employees, contact the IT Helpdesk if your workstation doesn’t have this software.
- Keep you antivirus definitions up-to-date Out of date virus definitions are just as bad as no virus protection. New viruses come out all the time, and only the latest virus definitions will allow your computer to identify and clean (or quarantine) them.
- Operating System Security Updates Both Microsoft and Apple releases security updates for their operating systems. For Windows users, go to Microsoft’s site for the latest security patches and service packs. For Mac users, run Software Update from the System Preferences (Mac OS X) or Control Panels (Mac OS 9).
