The main purpose of the Biola Portal is to give each member of the Biola community a centralized and customized location where they can access information from various sources. For example, by using the Portal: students can access their student information and online courses, faculty can access their class rosters and grade their classes, and staff can access the Employee Handbook or enter data into the University’s databases (including their online timecard). In addition, users are able to get information from external websites and RSS (Really Simple Syndication) news feeds.

Portal Security Enhancements

In order to enhance information security in the Biola Portal, two changes are being made to the Portal login.

First, effective May 19, your password must contain 8 - 16 characters and meet a few additional requirements explained on the Portal’s “Change Password” page. If your current password does not meet the new requirements, the next time you login (beginning May 5) you will be directed to the “Change Password” page and given the opportunity to change your password. Beginning May 19, users with passwords that don’t meet the new requirements won’t be able to access the Portal. They must then visit the IT Helpdesk in-person with photo ID to have their passwords manually reset.

Second, beginning May 19 only your NetID will grant access to the Portal. You can no longer login using your Biola ID number. To learn your NetID, login to the Portal before May 19; your NetID is displayed in yellow in the announcements channel. Until May 19 you can continue to login using your Biola ID number.

Thank you for your flexibility as we continue to keep your information secure.
