Accounts / Passwords
You’ll want to set up Portal with the email address you use, and with a password you’ll remember. In fact, we suggest you change your Blackboard and BUBBS passwords to be the same as your NetID / Portal password. Instructions for getting your initial account passwords and changing them are on the page.
Blackboard
Many professors use Blackboard to distribute class material, receive completed papers, and participate in an online forum with their students in that particular class.
Computer Services / Repair
If you’re having trouble with your computer, there’s a good chance we can help, and we’re significantly less expensive than the “big guys.”
You’ll want to get your Biola email account up and running.
File Storage
As a student you have a DigitalLocker which has 5GB of secure storage. You can use this in the computer labs and classrooms, from your own computer in your room, or anywhere in the world through the Internet.
Get Computers / Software
If you’d like to purchase a computer, equipment, or software, you can stop by the Computer Store, or look into our selection of used computers and equipment at the IT Helpdesk.
Labs / Classrooms
If you don’t have a computer, you can use Biola’s on-campus computer labs and classrooms. Most of your computing needs are provided there, including Microsoft Office. There you can also print your documents - even from your own computer in your room.
Network / Wireless
To use Biola’s wired and wireless networks to get on the Internet with your own computer, you’ll need to install Clean Access and set up BiolaSECURE.
Phones
We provide the phone in your room, and all on-campus phones.
Portal
One of the first things you’ll need to do as a new student is get on WebReg to pre-register for classes. WebReg uses the Portal, an online system where you can access most of your Biola academic information such as class schedule, grades, and financial aid.
Print / Copy
Printing and copying documents is possible in the computer labs and classrooms.
Security
We recommend you install software to keep your computer secure, including the our provided anti-virus software.
