Staying Informed Section 1.6 Dept: Human Resources Revised: February 13th, 2009

Inside Story

Inside Story is a weekly employee newsletter that is distributed on the last business day of every week (excluding weeks shorter than four days) to all Biola employees.  It contains a variety of information that is both of business and personal interest to employees.  The use of Inside Story in place of “All” in e-mail messages and individually addressed memos is encouraged.  Articles for a Friday edition of Inside Story should be submitted by e-mail to inside.story@biola.edu by Tuesday morning of the same week.

Inside Story Online

Inside Story Online is published by Training & Development as a means to facilitate and promote communication, collaboration, and community among Biola University's departments and employees. The site features an extensive resources section with helpful guides and forms that are useful tools throughout the workday, a bulletin board area for posting events and meetings, relevant news and announcements, and much more. To access the site, visit http://inside.biola.edu.

Employee Meetings

All employees are invited to a bi-monthly meeting designed to provide opportunities for worship, sharing, relaying of business information, inspiration, and recognition.  Employees are notified of the meeting date through Inside Story and e-mail.  The agendas for the employee meetings are developed by the Training and Development department.  Any department that wishes to have an item on the agenda should contact Training and Development.

Administrative Management Team (AMT) Meetings

All management employees (employees with the responsibilities of hiring, salary administration, and performance review for one full-time-equivalent employee or more and/or the responsibility of managing a function with a designated budget line) are invited to a bi-monthly meeting.  The purpose of these meetings is to discuss policy issues, seek input and dialogue on pending university decisions, provide training opportunities for development of management skills, and interact on issues of concern to members of the Administrative Management Team.  The agendas for the AMT meetings are developed by the Training and Development department.  Any department that wishes to have an agenda item should contact Training and Development.

All Employee E-mails

News related to all university employees is often communicated through "Campus-Wide News" e-mails, which are sent out Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to every staff and faculty member by the Internal Communications office. These e-mails include business related news and announcements, as well as information regarding upcoming university events and activities.
